Coco Villa is a boutique budget friendly Maldives villa located on the green inhabited island of Thoddoo in the North Ari Atoll, about 67 km west of Malé. Thoddoo Island is also known as the “Watermelon Island”, being the largest producer of watermelons in the Maldives due to its fertile soil. This local island (meaning that only Maldivian people live here) has a length of about 2 km and a width of 1km. The island’s population is about 1,400 people.

Your “home away from home”

Roaming on the streets of Thoddoo Island, Coco Villa catches visitor’s eye with its charming and clean tropical appearance. Walking through the villa reception is an enclosed small comfy sitting area and a library. You’ll get to enjoy our lush garden faced by an intimate dining area.

This Maldives villa offers 5 double rooms and 1 family suite, each opening to its own private terrace, where guests can drink their morning coffee in peace. The family suite at Coco Villa encloses two separate bedrooms and a nice living area that can comfortably accommodate three adults or a family with two young children. All rooms at this Maldives villa are tastefully decorated in a minimalist rustic style, preserving yet the original Maldivian “flavour” to be found in traditional elements of natural décor and hand- picked touches, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

YOUR MEALS

Local and fresh-from-the-market ingredients are used as much as possible at Coco Villa to create delicious dishes – both Maldivian and international. We promise to offer our guests varied and tasty homemade dishes – probably the best on Thoddoo Island!

Lunch can be served on our premises at Coco Villa or delivered right at the beach by our staff for your convenience, free of charge. A three course dinner menu accompanied by jazzy vibes will complete your daily tropical Maldives villa experience. All meals include drinks and fresh fruits. It’s also one of the very few places on Thoddoo Island where you’ll get a fresh brewed coffee or espresso.

Thoddoo Bikini Beach

Thoddoo bikini beach is a 10-15 min walk through the idyllic farming area. The bikini beach is probably one of the most picturesque white sandy beaches you’ll ever see –  very clean and well maintained by the local Thoddoo community. The bikini beach is even equipped with toilet facilities, beach chairs and a couple of hammocks.

Things to do at Thoddoo Island

• Snorkeling or diving with manta rays & enjoying our water sports. Thoddoo house reef is just 50 meters away from our beautiful bikini beach. Free snorkel gear is provided at the guesthouse.

• Boduberu Evening (traditional music & dance).

• Romantic Thoddoo Beach Dinner (Coco Villa signature) or picnic on remote islands.
• If you enjoy fishing and you come home to Coco Villa with a nice catch, our chef will be happy to prepare a barbeque for you in our garden.

•  Join the daily soccer game of local Thoddoo youth at 16.00 o’clock. They will be very happy if you join them in either Shirts On or Shirts Off team.

• Take a tour of the Thoddoo local farms and see the plantations of fruits and vegetables that made Thoddoo Island famous: passion fruits, papaya, mangoes, watermelon, eggplants, zucchinis, tomatoes, lettuce etc.

• Visit one of the five local cafés at Thoddoo Island and take the pulse of the local “city life”. “Photo”, one of our guesthouse staff will be very happy to take you with him at “coffee time.”

• Swim with the fluorescent plankton by night.

• Bicycle tour of Thoddoo Island. Rent a bike (available for 5$/day at Coco Villa) and go around the island , check the mosque, the school, the harbor etc.

• Take a visit to the local Thoddoo souvenir shop, where you can meet Moosa, the artisan of the island, who will often invite you for a chat inside his home and proudly show you his ongoing art works.

• Have fun playing a board game from our game closet and bond with other guests. Players will usually receive some free snacks 😉

Transfer to Thoddoo Island by scheduled speedboat

Cost: $35 per person one way to/from Thoddoo Island (the travelling time is approximately 1h20min, depending on weather conditions). Regular schedule on a daily basis, except for Friday.

Our Coco Villa staff member Yamin, will meet you in the arrival hall of the airport with the warmest smile and assist you until you get on the speedboat. The guesthouse staff will greet you in the harbour of Thoddoo Island and transfer you to Coco Villa.

Other useful information

• Complimentary one bottle of water (0.5l) per guest/day at Coco Villa, provided by daily housekeeping services.
• An iron and ironing board is available upon request.
• Linen and Towels. Our standard is to change your bed linen every third day of your stay at the villa and again at check-out. If you would like your linen changed sooner, please inform the staff. A towel on the hook or rack means “I’ll use it again”. A towel on the floor means ‘please replace.’
• Smoking. Not allowed in rooms at Coco Villa.
• Credit cards. We accept credit card payments at Coco Villa, though a 3.5% surcharge will be added to total amount of payments.
• No ATM or banks on Thoddoo Island, though any place on the island will accept US dollars as a payment, but very few credit cards.
• Grocery shops available at Thoddoo.
