FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

♥  CAN I COME SOLO?

Definitely! Our tropical retreats are designed especially for solo travellers who wish to experience a new destination with a bunch of new friends!

♥  IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR INDULGE MALDIVES RETREATS?

Yes, 18+. All retreat attendees must be over the age of 18 for legal reasons. However there is no age limit to our retreats. We have had retreat attendees to the age of 73 join us here in Maldives & absolutely love it!

♥  DO I NEED TO ARRANGE A VISA?

No. Maldives supplies Visas On Arrival to all nationalities, subject to tourists having a passport with at least 6 months validity, being able to produce a confirmed reservation for each night of their intended stay, as well as a departing flight. You may be required to produce these to Immigration upon your entry into Maldives.

WHICH AIRPORT DO I FLY TO?

Velana International Airport (Malè).

♥  WILL SOMEONE GREET ME AT THE AIRPORT?

You bet! From the moment you first arrive in Maldives you will experience our airport greeting service and will be transferred by private driver to our accommodation. Upon departure, we will return with you to the airport to ensure a smooth departure process.

♥  WILL I NEED ANY EXTRA SPENDING MONEY? WHERE CAN I PURCHASE ALCOHOL?

Yes a little extra spending money. Although our aim is to make the retreats as inclusive as possible, the retreat price does not cover alcoholic beverages, snacks, souvenirs or additional activities. We recommend budgeting $100 – $150 extra total, depending on how many alcoholic drinks you plan to consume. You can purchase alcoholic drinks from floating bars / safari bars off most local islands (subject to availability) at approx US$12 per drink. It’s also wise to budget for souvenirs and snacks. Depending on your flight arrival time, you may need to purchase lunch & dinner on your arrival & departure days. If you would like to do an extra activity or water sports experience during your vacation in Maldives e.g. parasailing or surfing lesson, we can assist you in determining an additional budget for these activities.

♥  WHAT IS THE MAIN CURRENCY USED IN MALDIVES?

The main currencies used in Maldives are US Dollars & Maldivian Rufiya (MVR). On local islands, Maldivian Rufiya is widely accepted to purchase items like souvenirs, snacks, extra activities & watersports. It is also possible to pay in local currency for alcoholic drinks on floating bars & safari boats. You can simply withdraw local currency from an ATM upon your arrival at the airport & some local islands, as well as in the mainland Malé. It is also possible to exchange AUD, USD, Euro into MVR at the airport upon arrival. Be sure to keep your receipt & you can change it back into your currency, as long as you have your signed receipt. US Dollar is accepted on all local islands, however expect change to be returned in MVR.

♥  HOW MUCH FREE TIME IS THERE?

The retreats are designed so that each morning there will be an activity & most afternoons will be scheduled for free time. Free time is an opportunity for you to explore each island on your own terms, swim in the rooftop pool, do an additional activity e.g. snorkelling or surfing, laze on the Bikini Beach or simply read a book on your private balcony.

♥  AS MALDIVES IS A MUSLIM COUNTRY, DO I NEED TO DRESS MODESTLY?

As we will be staying on local islands, it is important to dress a little respectfully when moving around the local village area of an island where local residents live. This means long skirts, dresses, shorts, thick singlet tops & t-shirts are appropriate inside of these areas. Each island has a strictly designated ‘Bikini Beach’ area. Bikini wear is only acceptable within these zoned areas. In the main tourist areas (outside of the bikini area & local village), you can wear casual clothing e.g. shorts, skirts, singlets, etc.

♥  CAN I DRINK THE WATER IN MALDIVES?

No, not unless you like drinking salt water! Each hotel will provide drinking water. It’s also easy to purchase extra water from local shops, for around 30c for 1L. If you have a refillable drink bottle, this would be especially ideal to bring at water re-fill stations. This will help reduce our plastic impact during the retreat!

♥  IS THERE A MINIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS REQUIRED?

Yes – we must have a minimum of 10 guests to go ahead with each retreat. As per our Terms & Conditions, if running the retreat is not deemed financially viable, Indulge Maldives reserve the right to cancel the retreat. Upon this type of cancellation, you will be refunded all monies previously paid to Indulge Maldives Holidays. However we will not reimburse any flights or travel costs already booked.
